What We're Doing

A Different Future for Ageing, Community and Belonging

Imagine a community where growing older doesn’t mean becoming isolated. Where people living with dementia remain part of everyday village life. Where neighbours know one another by name. Where nature, thoughtful design and meaningful relationships help people continue living with dignity, purpose and joy.

Blaircara is an emerging Scottish charity exploring a different future. One that brings together intergenerational living, dementia-inclusive design, social enterprise and compassionate community to create places where everyone belongs.

Traditional models of housing and care are under increasing pressure, while many people living with dementia simply want what all of us want, and that to remain part of ordinary life, surrounded by familiar places and familiar faces.

We believe it is time to ask a different question.

What if we designed communities around people instead of systems?
